Goodbye June Gloom!

June was sort of a crappy month for Los Angeles, seeing as every day consisted of dark clouds lurking over each city with a slight glimmer of light attempting to make its way through. It was also a crappy month for me because out of the 30 days of the month, I was sick for 26 of them! But alas, July has been here for no more than 2 days and the mucus that once had plagued me is gone and the sun has come back to the stage again. This makes me happy :-) And ready to workout!

Last night was my first brick with the club since probably May. They were doing this really intense ride which I didn’t feel up for so I just did a few laps around the bowl in case I needed to stop. I did the first lap with them, had my heart rate up over 200 and never really got it down after that when I was on the bike.

Here is a picture overlooking the golf course and the San Gabriel mountains, so beautiful! I am also wearing my new PTC jersey that I picked up too!

I rode around for about 45 minutes and then decided it was time to run. So I cheated a little and actually drove to the start of the trail instead of running it because I really shouldn’t be running that far ANYWAY… I start out on the trail and it was really nice. I am really starting to enjoy running on trails because it is just so nice! This is me at a little clearing, through the trail:

Just a bunch of wilderness! And a freeway to the left….

As I was running, this guy passed me and he wasn’t wearing a shirt, and I thought to myself…hmmmm…I bet that is really nice! (in the sense that it was nice and cool, not that I was checking him out as I do not check out men anymore because I have mine!) So anyway…I was basically all by myself and I knew I had NO business running in just my sports bra…but it was hot…and I was all alone…so I did it!

AND IT WAS SO LIBERATING!

Having the little breeze from running cooled me off and it was so comfortable! But as soon as I got close to civilization…the shirt went back on.

At some point on the run, I got to this little fork and I wasn’t sure which way to go. I saw the shirtless guy go up this one little trail so I decided to go the same way, well turns out Mr. Shirtless must be a great runner because this is what I ended up running on for a while:

It’s like an animal trail!

But it was nice, I just walked the parts that had a lot of rocks.

While on my run I also took this picture:

That is the JPL campus in the middle with the little valley below it. It was so pretty out yesterday evening and it wasn’t too hot…

Overall I ended up running for 40 minutes and really only going 2.5 miles. I attribute the long time due to the frequent walking breaks, the frequent picture breaks and me being slow.

After my run I met up with George and we went and had tortas over at King Taco! YUM!

Tomorrow George and I are heading out to Santa Monica to do an ocean swim and maybe a little run afterwards on the beach..thats right…ON the beach. I have never done it before and I think it would be nice.

In other news….I have somewhat big news…I am being SPONSORED! Back in May I received an e-mail from Active.com that they were looking for ambassadors for Team GO Smart. Each ambassador will take 5 people and get them to walk a 5k with an Omoron Pedometer. I have most of my team together and I am really looking forward to it.

Here is the link to the webpage if you are curious: http://www.gosmartpedometers.com/

I will have more info to come, especially when I start getting my gear. Click on the picture below if you want to know what Team Go Smart is all about!
